Automated Impedance Measurements in Electrochemical Cells

چکیده
In this paper a system is described for impedance measurements in electrochemical cells, integrated by a fast potentiostat, signal generator, digital transient recorder and a computer interface. The treatment of the signal is made by obtaining the correlation between the response cell signal with the in-phase and in-quadrature signals, as is made in the frequency response analysis systems, but the quadrature component being numerically generated. This allows one to obtain the d.c. ®rst and second harmonic cell responses in a single experiment, as well as the a.c. phase selective response by programming the reference signal phase angle. The results obtained with a dummy cell showed the validity of the procedure since the deviation of the measured results from the theoretical data is low. The C/E curve of the interface 1 M KCI/Hg at 258C is concordant with that previously reported in the literature. Moreover, the system has been tested with the reduction of Cd(II) ion. # 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy for Investigation of Different Losses in 4-cells Short Stack with Integrated Humidifier and Water Separator
Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is a suitable and powerful diagnostic testing method for fuel cells (FCs) since it is non-destructive and provides useful information about FC performance and its components. In this study, for the first time, a 500W cascade type 4 cells stack with integrated humidifier, water separator and internal manifolds was designed, fabricated and tested. The ...
متن کاملMentha spicata L. Extract as a Green Corrosion Inhibitor for Carbon Steel in HCl Solution
The effect of Mentha spicata L. extract on the corrosion behaviour of carbon steel in 1.0 M HCl solution was investigated using polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and electrochemical noise (EN) techniques. The solution containing 250 ppm of the ethanolic solution of extract showed the highest inhibition efficiency (IE). The effect of temperature on the rate of corrosion ...

In this paper, the effect of penicillin G benzathine (PGB) drug as a green corrosion inhibitor on mild steel in 1.0 M hydrochloric acid solution has been investigated using potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. The inhibition efficiency (IE) was found to increase with increasing inhibitor concentration. Potentiodynamic polarization measure...
متن کاملEquivalent Electrical Circuit Modeling of Ceramic-Based Microbial Fuel Cells Using the Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) Analysis
The effect of the thickness of ceramic membrane on the productivity of microbial fuel cells (MFCs) was investigated with respect to the electricity generation and domestic wastewater treatment efficiencies. The thickest ceramic membrane (9 mm) gained the highest coulombic efficiency (27.58±4.2 %), voltage (681.15±33.1 mV), and current and power densities (447.11±21.37 mA/m2, 63.82±10.42 mW/m2) ...
متن کاملStress Corrosion Cracking Detection of Sensitized Stainless Steel 304 in Chloride Media by Using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS)
Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) was used to detect stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in stainless steel 304 alloy exposed to an aqueous environment at 120 °C. Stainless steel 304 alloy as u-bend was tested in the solution that contains 40 weight percent of magnesium chloride. U-bended samples were prepared according to ASTM G30. EIS measurements were always performed simultaneously o...
